The UCSB retinal image collection contains a wide variety of both wholemount and retinal section images with key retinal structures labeled with antibodies. The purpose of this collection is to further the study of retinal detachment. One of the main image collections is from the Retinal Cell Biology Laboratory in the Neuroscience Research Institute (NRI) at UCSB. Professor Steven Fisher leads the lab, which studies the cellular changes that occur following retinal detachment and reattachment. The laboratory is also developing new therapies for the treatment of retinal detachment. The retinal image collection includes both human tissue samples and animal models of retinal detachment.
