Professor Jammalamadaka's research interests are in Nonparametric statistical inference, Limit distribution theory and asymptotic efficiencies of test procedures, Directional data analysis, Goodness of fit tests. He is a member of the Editorial Board of " Statistics and Probability Letters " (North Holland), "Stochastic Modelling and Applications" (Calcutta University), " Journal of Nonparametric Statistics " (Gordon and Breach), and of the " Journal of American Statistical Association " (Reviews Section). He is a regular reviewer for Mathematical Reviews in the areas of Directional data analysis, Stochastic processes and Limit distribution theory and has served as a reviewer for National Science Foundation (USA) and Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, grant proposals.

Professor Jammalamadaka is currently the President of the International Indian Statistical Association. He is a Fellow of Institute of Mathematical Statistics, American Statistical Association, Royal Statistical Society and many other prestigious societies. He is a recipient of the Award for Academic Excellence from the Telugu Association of North America , July 1997. Further, he has presented over 120 invited talks at universities and conferences in the United States and abroad, on topics including problems of weak convergence, directional data and nonparametric statistics.
